LEGEND 2

Once upon a time, no people inhabited the earth. One day, a god and a goddess visited the earth. They grew lonely because they met no people in the hills, the valleys, or along the seashore.

So they took some clay from a river bank, and they molded it into two figures, a male and a female. They baked the figures in a fire. Because they had no experience in baking, the figures became black, for they were overbaked.

Dissatisfied with their own work, they molded another pair of figures and placed them in the fire. Owing to their initial failure, they were over-cautious, and this time they took the clay figures out of the fire too soon. To their surprise, they found out that the figures were rather pale because they were underbaked.

For the third time, they made another pair of figures and again put them in the fire. This time, having gained enough experience in the art of baking, they were able to bake the clay figures perfectly.

From the overbaked figures came the black people. From the underbaked figures came the white people. And out of the perfectly baked figures arose the brown people — the ancestors of the tan Filipino people.
