jungle-beads.JPGMade from recycled, varnished paper, jewelry made from colorful Jungle Beads make a great holiday gift.  The people at Life in Africa are selling the beads to help feed war-affected children in Gulu, in Northern Uganda, and their 4-day international shipping policy will get them to you in time for the holidays if you order soon.

Also check out their great blog, called Wise African Living, with posts about recipes, remedies, tips for contemporary living, proverbs, opinions on social and traditional issues in Northern Uganda.

A follow up on this post: The Jungle Beads arrived and are ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. We ordered the Bracelet Gift packet, and it came with a dozen bracelets in varying complimentary colors, and we and our friends have been wearing them every day since then.
They’re a beautiful gift for your friends and for yourself, they’re hand-made in Uganda from recycled paper (sounds odd, but they really are neat), and the money raised helps support war-affected children in Uganda. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these to anyone, even if it wasn’t for a good cause, so all that is a bonus!
Let us know if you get them, and spread the word!
